ranks first in manufacturing jobs, accounting for one in every six
manufacturing employees and first in salaries and wages with $1 of
every $7 paid to employees. More than 315, 000 Virginians are employed
by forest-related industries and businesses. For each manufacturing
job created, an additional two service/support jobs, such as trucking
are created. Every city, county, and town benefits directly or indirectly
from the forest products industry.
