Matt graduated in 1993 with a degree in Forest Resource Management from Virginia Tech. He started working for the USDA Forest Service's Southern Research Station part-time while still an undergraduate in 1992. Matt will complete his masters in Biometrics from Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2002. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Matt currently resides in Radford where he enjoys fishing and woodworking. Matt's job responsibilities for the Southern Research Station are as follows:

• Maintaining three websites: the USDA Forest Service's Southern Research Station, the Cold-water Fisheries Research Unit, and a Nontimber Forest Products site.
