Research Interest(s):
My research involves wood optimization concerning the
rough mill simulation program, ROMI-3. Currently, ROMI's
Least Cost Grade Mix Solver uses the statistics package,
SAS, for statistical calculations. My objective is to make
the Least Cost Grade Mix Solver more accessible to
industry by incorporating the use of R rather than SAS.
Academic Background:
I received my Bachelors of Science from Concord
University in Athens, West Virginia Spring 2008 with a
Major in Comprehensive Mathematics, Minor in Statistics,
and Emphasis in Pre-Actuarial Science.
My first experience in wood science was Summer
2007. I worked with the USDA Forest Service in Princeton,
West Virginia collecting data on Red Oak defects. I was
encouraged to continue my education in wood science.
I am now working on a Masters of Science in Wood
Science and Forest Products here at Virginia Tech. I
plan to graduate by Spring 2010.
I am interested in continuing research in wood
optimization and learning more about wood management
and wood industry.
