Pallet & Container Research Laboratory

The William H. Sardo Jr. Pallet and Container Research Laboratory is the only research facility in the United States that performs comprehensive research and development work, provides technical assistance, and offers educational programs focusing exclusively on pallets and containers, as well as the materials and fasteners with which the pallets and containers are assembled.

As a natural outgrowth of the long time activities of the Pallet and Container Research Laboratory, the Center for Unit Load Design expands Pallet and Container research into the field of design and evaluation of all elements of materials handling systems.

The Southern Research Station is part of the Nation's largest forestry research organization -- USDA Forest Service Research and Development -- the leading organization for research on natural resource management and sustainability in the United States.

 
 


Non-Timber Forest Products Website

Interest in non-timber forest products (NTFPs) is increasing rapidly. The Virginia Tech Department of Wood Science and Forest Products, the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station and the Top of the Ozarks RC&D in Missouri are collaborating to develop and operate the first web site devoted to gathering information on products and markets and making it accessible to harvesters and growers, marketers, processors, and end-users.
