The mission of our department is to create and disseminate knowledge about wood, through our research, teaching and outreach activities. We are involved in many exciting research projects.

For the calendar year 2006 our faculty (see Creative Achievements 2006 for a complete description):

  • Supervised completion of 7 graduate theses and dissertation projects
  • Secured funding for 24 research proposals
  • Received $2,999,249 in research proposal support awarded
  • Published 26 refereed papers in scientific journals
  • Published 18 articles in trade journals
  • Presented 108 scientific presentations at professional meetings
  • Taught 27 traditional courses to over 330 students on campus
  • Conducted 27 short courses/outreach programs

Undergraduate students may also be involved in research projects with faculty and gain valuable additional experience in almost any area of our program.
